Union Night School: treating each other with respect at work

How can we build solidarity if we don’t start with respect? Whether you share your co-workers’ politics, values, or general interests, everyone wants to get through their workday without ill-treatment—and yet most of us can relate to the experience of feeling disrespected or overlooked at work. If you wish your workplace felt more like people had each other’s backs, building your own ability to contribute to a solid workplace dynamic is a great first step.

This is a repeat of our June night school theme. Come to this skill-building evening of Local Y010’s Union Night School, where we’ll cover topics like:

  • Recognizing how power dynamics affect the workplace;
  • Identifying elements of a respectful and inclusive workplace;
  • Understanding how diversity shapes communication and teamwork; and
  • Practicing respectful communication and conflict resolution.

About Union Night School: these drop-in, peer-to-peer union education nights are organized by members of YEU/PSAC Local Y010. Union Night School is free for all working and unemployed people to attend. YEU members’ wages are not covered to attend these volunteer-produced evening events.
